Now, you didn't really think that I was going to forget to wish all of you a most happy holiday, did you??? Well, thankfully I am still in time to wish some of you a Happy Hanukkah..... and way early enough to wish others of you a Merry Christmas and a Joyous Kwanzaa!!! Siga and I hope that your holidays will be happy ones celebrated with the people you love.....and that the New Year will bring all people a hopeful new beginning......
....and now for a "Would you believe?????"..... We are now going to be open on Sundays at least until Christmas!!!! It's the "new economy", and Siga and I were open for the first time last Sunday....poor guy was wearing his coat and scarf all day long as it was freezing, and I insisted that we keep the door open so the people would know that they could come in!!!!! Our holiday store hours are Sunday 10:00 until 5:00 and the rest of the week 9:30 until 6:00.....of course, last night we were actually here until almost 7:00, but we are having a good time doing it!!! We have a festive shop full of wonderful goodies that we are always happy to wrap.....even if they are for you!!!
This newsletter was going to be "All About Accessories" but, would you know, some other fabulously festive pretties have arrived......
Siga is responsible for the whimsy of the Jutta Nordheim crinkled skirts and tops......when he saw that box that said "Germany" on it, he had it ripped open before I even signed the UPS board. He had it all hung and accessorized at lightening speed so that it could be in our December newsletter. These crinkled wonders are some of our most favorite "over-the top" pieces....and, believe it or not, these are the most conservative things she designs! Siga also loves the gigantic flowers to add even more drama.............
Ray Harris has sent us the first of his new spring collection.....the flamingo colored taffeta coat has his signature crinkled sleeves, and we love it with his olive hanky hem dress and with a Giselle Shepatin chiffon scarf as an accent. This coat is also available in a beautiful shade of teal and also in iced coffee. His incredibly versatile swing coat has got to be one of the BEST pieces you can have in you wardrobe if you socialize or travel....all of these pieces just roll into a ball and always look great......here it is seen over a crimson dress with Ronit Dagan's hand blown and painted glass necklace. Some of you know what a big fan I am of the double hem band dress....I actually own a purple one like this!!!! We are also showing the fern color with one of Giselle's velvet vests that have those gorgeous acid green and aqua flowers. (This is also why we keep these pieces in a ball in our closet......horizontal pleats do get "tired" when they are hung for a long period of time!!!! See, I ALWAYS tell you the truth....)
Yes, we never get tired of the new things that Catherine Bacon does with her skirts/dresses. This one is the fabulous Japanese taffeta with the stretchy pleated waist. The big black flower, which is all lovingly hand made by Catherine herself, is accented with white at the center......a harbinger of spring that can be worn all year long.....
.....and now the accessory part.....
Charms.....charms.....charms.....something for everybody....... They can be worn singly on a chain or ribbon of any length, or they can be worn in multiples of either charms or chains. My friend Joan wears two or three different lengths of chain with three charms on each....... each one being something about her......she has got to be our best advertising!!! These have become our best-selling accessories. I love how one of you gifts a friend, and then the friend comes in and gifts someone else. I think the idea of how personal each charm can be makes it an especially fun thing to wear....
Gillian Julius has all of her jewelry made in Italy , and we have just been lucky enough to receive some more for the holidays. The bracelets and necklaces are all made of polished linen string with sophisticated silver plate and metal details. Don't you just love the new "blingy" one????
One of you asked to see more of the Teresa Goodall necklaces....well, here are SOME of the other ones that we have. They are constantly coming in and going out. Most of them have the versatility of being anything from a choker to a long necklace....and all lengths in between. The beads are strung and knotted on waxed linen string that sticks to itself when it is tied so that your necklace stays in place at the length that you like. Each necklace is hand made in Minnesota .
Sarah Cavender works in all metal mesh that she sprays with wonderful lustrous colors. We have a MAJOR collection of her bracelets and necklaces!!!!!!!!
Diana Taylor has just sent us new colorations in some of her best necklaces (we have really missed the paper clip roses since summer!) and a new pin. She has also made non-cherry colored cherry necklaces to go with all of our Elisabethan pieced tee shirts.....
Our felt dog pins from Amanda Bates will soon be joined by some new breeds....they are somewhere between here and France , but we know they are going to be as great as these. I can hardly wait to see our first cat,,,,,,
New patterns of Nancy Lucia bags....they're finally here!!! These are the best bags to carry just all the time so that you aren't weighed down by all the junk we all carry around because we think we just might need it but seldom do. With all of the handy pockets, staying organized is a breeze....
Bo's Art mesh bags are a going-out must.....used as either a clutch or a shoulder bag by attaching the silver strap, they are a sophisticated little piece of art that carries your essentials. They travel in their own individual draw-string bags....
....and of course, there are about a gazillion other wonderful playthings of all sorts to amuse one and all (most??).
We hope that we will get to see you before or during the holidays.......
CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!
