Wow! I like this EARLY stuff!!!!!

We love the way the store looks with spring and summer and early fall.....so much to play with and so many choices of what to put together.....I can stand there by myself all day and just make more and more new display outfits and never run out of ideas.

My biggest decision now is just WHERE to start this newsletter because there are so MANY great new things!!!!! I am just glad not all of our July deliveries have arrived yet..........

How about I start with Ray Harris. We have been getting many beat-up little cardboard boxes from across the big water the last few days, and you wouldn't believe how much fabulous is packed into them!!! Earlier in the season you saw our way-too-smart-looking pieced plaid jacket with the pleated top pants in charcoal gray and black. NOW you are seeing the same great jacket in a combination of chestnut brown and black plaid pieced with solid and black.....and its friend the pleated top pant in chestnut plaid. We have ordered these pieces so many times that Ray is wondering just what we do with them! We have jackets and pants in both colors now, AND we are having a lot of fun putting these pieces with other stuff.....like the pants with a Giselle Shepatin sweater or the jackets with casual pants and jeans???

AND THEN.....there are Ray's fabulous crinkled poly dresses!!! They will take you just about anywhere....and they pack so that you can take them anywhere too. Just the other day, we had a young customer come in who needed to get a dressy outfit for a black-tie wedding on Saturday.....Was she ever amazed that it took four minutes or less to find the perfect thing?!?!? Ray's dresses are like that. We have just gotten in a reorder of the Hoop Dress with its wonderful lantern shape, and a new style to love, the long and lean Hanky Hem Dress. I guess you can tell that I was in a green mood when I ordered them.....they come in Fern and Olive and Storm. Of course, we have at least twenty other colors to choose from if you would like to special order. Please note what great accessory dresses these are.............

While we are in the crinkled poly mode, if you are small with a great figure (come on, admit it, there are a few of you out there!) Jutta Nordheim's Spiral Dresses and crinkled tops are too cool. When I unpacked them the other day, someone saw them and asked if she could try on the fabulous scarves.....that's how tiny they look! But, they actually stretch into an entire dress or top. This is the same German designer who brought us the see-through silver jackets and skirts......and this is the conservative stuff!!!!!

We have in the first part of our fall collection from Krista Larson. The color story is black and cream and white. She has added many different and exciting new pieces to her line...great new shirts, flirty new skirts, smashing new jackets and quirky new pants. You can choose from the crispness of silk taffeta or the girlieness of silk organza or the comfiness of pure cottons. You can create your own look with these hand-made, lightly rumpled, utterly feminine designs. Be whimsical by putting together our reversible Bubble Skirt with a two-tone Double Layer Stretch Net Tee and topping it with the Ragtime Cami. OR, be femininely casual....or casually dressed-up....in the seersucker cotton Emma Jacket and the linen/cotton damask Wavey Pants...............

And if you love fashionably rumpled, you have to know Cynthia Ashby. Her hand-dyed linen "Suit" jacket and cropped pants come in subtle and sophisticated natural tones.....glow with black or mud with black.

Marsha Theis has made us some large size vests....finally!!!!! You will remember that I told you these pieces would always be mediumish because they shrink when they are felted? Well, I kept bugging her about EVERYBODY wanting them, and she has figured out that she can make bigger vests by just using more sweaters!!!!! And here they are.........

This is one talented lady!!!

After seeing how much our customers love her handbags, we started buying some of Viktoria Chulay's jackets as well. Seems like they are pretty great too...Now she is even coordinating them for us. This is our newest jacket from Viktoria....black wool with red leather trim. And how do you like it with our red and zebra stripe bag???

I am finally getting to show you the fabulous winter coats that Siga and I found on our last trip to New York . These coats are made in Chicago , and they are SERIOUS WINTER COATS. These are for those of you who live where it really gets cold....or for those of you who are always cold wherever you are! Beautiful details set this black coat apart from any other I have ever seen....the diagonally pleated pockets and cuffs....the dramatic signature lining!!! And we adore the gigantic button accents of the black jacket with the brown accents! More to come.....

My friend Ellie Fraenkel and her friend Dorothy Taylor are making us some really wonderful necklaces featuring beautifully mixed colors and textures of pearls and stones and beads. We have single strand chokers and ropes.....multi-strand necklaces. Each piece is a striking accessory to accent our clothes.....like the strands of pearls with our new Ray Harris dress.

Pat Ritter's whimsical scarves are one-of-a-kind creations that could be your favorite fall accessory. We finally have some scarves that are actually warm and cozy and not just great looking!!! Pat's imagination runs light years faster than her fingers can move, so her scarves are that much more rare and special.

In the Gallery we have two fabulous new teapots from Kliszewski Glass....you see the pictures....who can make it better than that?

We love to share it when our friends are doing something really special.....like Freada Klein releasing her book "Giving Notice", which was a real eye-opener even to someone like myself who thinks she is pretty enlightened!

Now, we want to share a couple of other good things with you.....

Our friend Yvonne Tschudi has just published a gorgeous coffee table book of her photographs from Europe and other favorite journeys called "Yvonne's View of her World". Siga and I just love looking at the lush scenery, the old-world charm of European architecture, the wonders of nature, and we adore the dog!!! You can get information about or order her book at www.yvonnesview.com.

And Amy and Christopher Dean, who had the wonderful shop called Place du Soleil on Polk Street , are moving their wares to their new English tea room—The Crown and Crumpet—in Ghirardelli Square sometime next month. We are looking forward to sampling the goodies Amy has been tempting us with! .....and won't she be looking perfect in her Krista Larson???

Siga and I would like to thank all of you who have been so generous as to pass our business cards on to your friends, or to forward our newsletters to them. We love what we do and the people we meet and want to keep doing this for many, many years to come. Your enthusiastic support is greatly appreciated!!

We hope to see or hear from you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

love...
