I bet a lot of you guys are wondering how we have gotten this year off to such a slow start.....?? Well, wonder no more.....now it is starting to come.....wonderful and lots and fast!!!!! We are just waiting for the rain to stop and the sun to peek though so that we can take the photographs.....
Some of you have been itching for something bright?!?!?
I can't tell you how wonderful Barbara de Jounge's sweaters have been....those of you who have them know. Barbara's creativity and sense of whimsy have no bounds!!!!! She has put yet another twist onto her fabulous pin sweater by mixing all of the colors and adding some stripes and a pin-on pocket!!!! The new sweater comes in both the regular length and cropped. We also have most of the solid colors in stock.....red and purple and acid green.....
In keeping in the bright mode, we have a great new collection of linen shirts, and a new Capri length pant, from ItemZ. We love the new shirt colors and have photographed each of them in one of the styles. The Capri pant is available in the purple or the red. (You got it – no black!!!! Aren't you proud of me???) Three of the shirts are ones that we already know and love.....the Back Pocket (which actually has one pocket on the front and the other on the opposite side of the back), the Sideways with the asymmetric button closing, and the Panel Shirt (which also has a great double pocket in the back). The new guy in the block is the Front to Back, which literally is. We are showing you both views of this shirt so that you can see just how versatile it is..... We have accessorized a lot of these shirts with our Stickball and Jewelry 10 pins.
Then we go from the bright to the beautiful (of course it is possible to be both!!!!!)......
Just because it came in first, Robin Kaplan can be first..... With the beautiful stone color we introduce a lot of new styles for spring..... The linen pant with lace trim, the sexy linen knit tank with lace, the lace top tee, the wrap organza skirt, the tulle trimmed slip dress, and the tiny mesh shrug. I REALLY LOVE the lace that she uses to trim the pant and tank.....it looks like something very old that she dragged out of grandma's attic!!! We also have our favorite styles again.....the petal skirt in both habotai and taffeta, the double-V tee, the silk charmeuse tee with the silk knit sleeves, the wool lace cardigan, and lots of fabulous little tied-up scarves. This is a collection to come and play with.....perfect for whenever you are going somewhere and want to look really special!!!!!!!!
Really special in the accessory area are four new necklaces from Diana Frey. You are seeing a couple of them on Robin's clothes. I had asked Diana to create a few new pieces for us for the spring, and when I could hardly wait to get them, I looked on her website to sneak a peek at what she might have done, IF she had done anything new. WELL.....I fell in love with some of the new pieces and was going to call to ask about them when VIOLA!!! Here those pieces came to us in a little box with each piece exquisitely wrapped up in dragonfly printed tissue paper!!!!! Just how good can things get??? Diana's pieces are so utterly feminine and so wonderfully quirky with her combinations of elements.....like gun shell casings and crystal.....who would think of that???? And how fabulous are the birdhouse or the silver heart that she herself fabricated from precious metal clay (.999 fine sterling silver)..... I can stand around for a good part of the day just playing with these!!!
Then we have Krista Larson in black and white.....this year including prints!!! Little dots and flowers and bigger dots and little checks and plaid!!!! And we have lots of new styles that are fun to layer in different ways....or not at all.... Some of the new styles, like the Amish Slip and the Origami Pant, have already sold so well that we have had to reorder them!!!! Krista casual is as good as it gets for looking and feeling special every day and Krista dressy is perfect for all the dressed-up days. It is easy to take with you wherever you go! I love clothes that I can stuff in my roller and put on wrinkled and look great.....don't you?
We also have a nice selection of the earlier Krista Larson lavender collection.....
The holidays really did a number on our accessories! We are very fortunate to have nice relationships with our jewelry designers.....they have been great about sending us new things FAST!!!! In addition to the Diana Frey pieces, we have also gotten a lot of new styles from Teresa Goodall, including some pretty outrageous ones. I have had a good time splashing her necklaces around the store.....These pieces will make an outfit sing!!!
This is the beginning.....more is already on its way........
Here's a piece of exciting news that we never imagined...... We are going to have a very special visitor here with us next week...... Ray Harris, our brilliant designer from London. He will be here with us next Friday, February 27th, bringing his new fall collection to preview, and he will also be happy to work with you on special orders should you have any special events on the horizon!!! Ray is responsible for all of those fabulous crinkled dresses and separates as well as a collection of cottons and bi-stretch gabs. He will be here with his associate Leslie, who only looks spectacular in all of his designs. If you would like to meet Ray, be sure to stop by any time on Friday...........
My mother says she hates to read the newspaper because all it ever has is bad news. Well, we don't believe in spreading bad news.....we are going to spread good news and great ideas.....
In the great idea department, and I have already seen it work, is Marie O'Brient's “Wish List”. I tried this about ten or twelve years ago, when we did not have nearly as many customers as we have now.....and certainly no internet presence.....and it turned out to be a great big nothing. But NOW.....it is an idea whose time has come!!!! Thanks, Marie!!!!! Want to know how it works? I am assuming that you do.... I keep a little book (of course it was fun picking out yet one more new notebook!) called “Wish List”. When you come in to visit or shop (or peruse the newsletter) and find something that you would really, REALLY like to have but are not going to buy just then, you can ask us to put it in the book. Then you can let that someone to whom you are special know that he or she can call and give me your name when they are looking for that perfect gift to give you!!! Certainly, you can have several things on your Wish List so that your special someone can select a gift of choice. Great idea???? How nice to be able to both give and receive a gift that will be loved and enjoyed.......
If you call or come by and I am not here.....I am either in the ladies room or am wearing out shoe leather running up to the corner of Sutter and Jones to “Candy Darling” to indulge my chocolate craving. Siga does offer to walk up for me, but the choices are different everyday, so I go myself. This place is chocolate heaven!!!!! They make the best truffles on earth.....and they are really fresh because they are making them right there, and you never know what they are going to have!!!!! They also make fabulous English toffee coated with chocolate and chopped pecans, and home-made marshmallows in different flavors. Each piece must have a bazillion calories to taste this good. So, who cares?????
Well, that's it for now.
Hope all is well with you and yours and that we will get to see or hear from you soon!!!!!
Love.....XXXXXX
