Wow! Things surely seem to be moving at warp speed these days!!!
Siga and I spent three fabulous days in New York .....enjoying the beautiful spring weather and shopping up a storm!!! We are usually finished with most of our Fall buying in February, but this year we decided to give the May market a whirl. We were thrilled to find a lot of REALLY GREAT STUFF.............
And then we were thrilled to come home to beautiful spring weather and REALLY GREAT STUFF arriving when we got back.......
We are pleased to have in our reorder from our new designer, Judy Tampa. We have more of the styles that you loved the best.....jackets and little dresses in new colors for summer. Judy uses all washed and crinkled silks and cottons and linens that are perfect to take along on that breezy vacation. We also have to mention how happy we are to have found a line of clothing that suits our size 2 to 8 customers!!! I joke around that Judy is probably smaller than a mosquito....but then she really is great at understanding and designing for a smaller figure!!! The great thing is that some of her easy fit jackets and dresses can fit to a size 14.
THEN...we have a really amazing new collection from Germany !!!!! Mokoshji is really Siga's baby because I would never have had the guts to buy it. We both saw it and adored it, and he went back and bought it while I spent four hours writing our Krista Larson order! Anyway, now that it has arrived, we both keep looking at it every day because it is so incredible!!! Our web designer has taken photos of the backs of most of the pieces so that you can appreciate the innovative and whimsical detail work. So much drama, so much style, so much WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we have this great looking Tyvek jacket by Mau. I say jacket (singular) because we have only one left but several reordered to come in soon. It first walked in worn by a smartly dressed gallery owner, whom I promptly accosted (being sure to say "Hello!" first) to take a peek at the label. Well, surprise!!!!! We have been selling Mau's Tyvek jackets for a few years but missed seeing this one when we passed on attending the New York Gift Fair. Now, this is only the best jacket she has ever made, and she was wonderful about getting some out to us fast. For those of you who are not familiar with Tyvek.....yes, it just looks like wrinkled paper. BUT, this space age material is used as housing insulation and Federal Express envelopes.....SO.....it resists water and wind, AND it is virtually indestructible!!!!! Some of you remember, and perhaps own, some of the very first MycraPac raincoats that were made of this same material. Sixteen years later, my mother and sister are still wearing theirs! These jackets are perfect travelers, coming in their own little envelopes with a tie closure. The love to go anywhere......EXCEPT you will not want to wear them in hot, humid climates because you will surely perspire to death.....
We also have some great new accessories..
We have always loved Nancy Lucia's leather passport bags with her fanciful artwork. I am always personally attracted to the pile of newspapers, but who can resist the couple dancing the tango, or the English phone booth, or the romantic rose bouquet??? AND these bags are practical too, with pockets and zippered compartments to separate your travel stuff, and an adjustable shoulder strap to style as you like it. Nancy 's wonderful artwork on the big leather pocket also led us to try her canvas tote bags....great for hauling all of your summer gear.
We are showing off one of Petrushka's fabulous new scarves on my favorite Ray Harris dress. When you walk into the Petrushka showroom in New York , you have just entered fantasy land. AND, you get to pick and choose your favorite one-of-a-kind pieces and take them home with you. Who needs to be the kid in the candy store??? This is so much better. She had so many new and really special things this time that even Siga was making a pile of goodies he thought we should have! We have just a few of these new scarves and a few new necklaces with antique keys and jewels. She is working on more.
We have a new collection of one-of-a-kind unmatched earrings from Micki Lippi. These are really lovely, and really not photographable (is that a word?). Each earring is sterling silver with delicate hand-made elements, stones, pearls and tiny charms assembled in Micki's uniquely charming way. To have one pair is to want one more....and....
Falling into this same category (stuff you have to come in to see) are Lisa McKinzie's equally intricate necklaces. We love the way that she drills her pearls and stones off-center and then uses delicate ribbons and threads and other fibers to string and wrap and tie them together.
.....and YES!!!...there will be more new stuff in June.............
However, (and only those of you who come in often will understand this) we actually don't have any rolling racks on the floor now. I can't possibly tell you how exciting that is!!!!! We can actually move around and have space.
You can come play with us in that space because, as you can tell, we have a lot of goodies to play with. We are looking forward to seeing you.
Until we do........
Love to all.
